Your jewelry was inserted, securely, but it can come loose over time from everyday activities. Checking your jewelry on a regular basis will ensure that you do not lose your jewelry and also potentially lose your piercing. Please handle your jewelry only with freshly washed hands.

Threaded Jewelry

Threaded Jewelry should be tightened with clean hands once a week to ensure that it is still tight. As with most threaded items, it is “righty-tighty, lefty-loosey.” When tightening threaded jewelry, you must hold both sides to tighten the ends. If you only hold one side, the jewelry spins through the piercing and does not actually tighten.

Threadless Jewelry

Threadless Jewelry can come loose over time, but in a different way than threaded jewelry. Instead of the jewelry coming unscrewed, the top can loosen if it was caught hard enough to pull it slightly out of the post. To check your threadless jewelry, put a finger on each side of the jewelry and push together. Once the jewelry is pushed together tightly, hold the back and lightly turn the top to the side. If the top turns easily when it is completely inserted inside the post, you should have your piercer check the tightness of your jewelry for free.

Captive bead rings

Captive bead rings hold the bead with pressure, which can be loosened from catching the jewelry. We ensure the bead is inserted into the ring as tight as possible, but sometimes the variance between the dimples/holes in the bead and the ends of the ring that cause the bead to feel loose regardless of how tight it is. You can check the actual tightness by holding the side of the ring and giving the bead a light tug. If the bead feels like it is going to come out, visit one of our piercers for a free check-up.

We always offer free check-ups! Don’t hesitate to come in to see one of our piercers if you ever have questions or concerns. Thank you for your business and we hope to see you again soon!
